Life is Tech! Teaching Method


The camp offers a wide variety of courses that caters to everyone.

Whether you want to learn about cutting-edge Information Technology such as game design, or simply have a casual interest in programming, we have the right courses just for you!
For the camp, we have prepared a total of 8 courses. They are: iPhone application development, 3D game development, Web design, Digital art and so on.
The main objective of the camp is to allow campers to experience the process of “building IT Products. The first thing that we hope students gain from the camp is not the programming skills but rather the joy of creating IT products.
In addition, for the campers that want experience more challenging courses, we aim to teach them technologies that are used by real world industries and guide them in create their own original product.

The mentoring ratio is 1:6!

For every 6 campers, there will be 1 dedicated university student mentor providing support!
In the midst of learning programming skills, there may be numerous occasions where you encounter errors and problems. It will be frustrating and confusing when you are trying to overcome these obstacles on your own without any guidance. However, in this camp, you can easily ask your student mentors for advice if you need assistance.
With the opportunity to openly discuss your programming ideas or problems with your mentor, you are able to continuously improve your skills.

The camp will be held in conducive locations such as a university campus or IT corporation office!

You will learn in the classrooms of university campuses, such as the ones in the National University of Singapore, or within the offices of leading IT corporations.
Hence, this will provide you with the opportunity to live the life of an university student or an employee of an IT company.
You will be able to pick up programming skills faster as these learning environments are not like those you experience in your daily school-life.

This camp will be the one of best time of your life!

MOZER 3-month Use Package

MOZER is an online learning platform designed to make periodic learning a reality. Progress through this video-game like experience, with cute characters and an interesting story, while learning how to program. MOZER is bundled as a 3-month use package (worth S$60) for those who have attended a camp, meaning you can continue to learn even after the end of camp.

Transfer

Please make the bank transfer to the specified account by the requested deadline.

Notification regarding the confirmation of payment (*same for all)

You will receive an email within 72 hours from Life is Tech! regarding the confirmation of your payment.

Sending of detailed guide page (*same for all)

We will sent you an email which will contain the guide. The guide will have details such as the meeting location and the things that you will need to prepare in advance. The guide can also be found on the customer page approximately 1 week before the camp.※We will not send you any documents by post.

STEP6

The actual day (*same for all)

Please remember to bring the requested items on the day of the camp!

Payment and Charges

  • All displayed amounts include tax.
  • You can make changes to your registration up until 10 days prior to the start of your session, with no additional fees.
    • ・For payment, you can choose credit card payment or bank transfer.
    • ・In the case of bank transfer, as the customer will be bearing the bank transfer handling charges, Life is Tech! will offer you a S$10 discount.
  • Transportation fees to the campus and lunch fees are excluded.
  • With regards to cancellation, please refer to the bottom section of the page.

If you are renting PC

  • S$75 will be charged to participants who are renting PC.
  • For participants who are bringing their own PC, you will need to download the required softwares in advance.
  • We will send an email containing the necessary instructions to setup your PC for this camp.

Cancellation Policy

Changes in the Application

  • We allow any cancellations and changes to the meeting plan, course content and PC loans etc.
  • Please contact us using our cancellation/change form.
  • We will contact you if there any changes to the invoiced amount as a result of the changes.
  • You can make changes to your registration up until 10 days prior to the start of your session, with no additional fees.

Cancellation

You can make changes to your registration up until 10 days prior to the start of your session, with no additional fees.
Please note that cancellation charges will occur in the following cases.

  • ・Cancellation by 10 days before event:10% of the invoiced amount
  • ・Cancellation by 7 days before event:30% of the invoiced amount
  • ・Cancellation from 7 days before to the actual day of the event:50% of the invoiced amount
  • ・Cancellation on the day of the event without prior notice: 100% of the invoiced amount

Should there be a possibility that you may cancel, due to an unclear schedule until shortly before the event, please discuss this with us at the time of your application. We will handle your situation based on the circumstances.

Issues and Problems

What is the applicable age group?
Our camp is catered for anyone aged between 12 to 18 years old.
Who are the mentors and staff?
Our mentors are experienced programming students from the local universities in Singapore.
What is the difference between the 3 days and 5 days camp?
Participants are able to learn more in the 5 days camp as compared to the 3 days one. They will also have more time to develop their own applications in the 5 days camp.
Does my child need to have any prior programming experience?
No prior programming experience is needed for the camp! Our courses are catered to participants of any level of experience in programming! In fact 70% of our participants are first-time programmers!
My child is experienced in programming, can he/she still join the camp?
Of course! Your child can join still the camp!
What is the presentation on the final day for?
The presentation allows students to present his/her own creation based on the knowledge he/she has gained throughout the course to the class.
How much time do the participants spent on programming each day?
Participants will spent an average of 5 hours each day on programming. Time will be allocated for various other activities and games.
Will lunch be included?
Lunch will not be included. Students are advised to bring cash to buy their own food that are sold on the campus or to bring their own lunch.
Can my child bring his/her own laptop to the camp?
Participants can bring their own laptops to the camp. Furthermore, S$75 will be charged to participants who are renting PC.
If my child is bringing his/her own laptop, what are the softwares that he/she has to download?
Information about the softwares needed will be provided in the information guide. The information guide will be sent to the you one week prior to the camp.
Will there be other activities aside from coding?
Our camp provides interesting games and outdoor activities too!
What is the teaching ratio?
One mentor will be mentoring up to six participants.
What do my child need to bring to the camp or free trial camp?
Laptop (if you are bringing your own) and LifeisTech! tshirt (provided on the first day)

Issues and Problems

My child has a special condition which unables him/her to participate in certain activities, how can I inform LifeisTech! ?
Please indicate any special requirements in the application form.
My child is unable to attend all the days of the camp, can he/she get another replacement day?
We are sorry but our camp will not provide another replacement day. Do try to sign up for another camp!
What should I do if my child wants to switch to another programming course before or during the camp?
You can change your registered course before the camp starts.
My child does not have a laptop but can he/she still participate in the camp?
Laptops will be loaned to students if they do not have their own laptops.
My child does not own a smartphone but can he/she still participate in the smartphone courses?
Yes! Participants can still join the smartphone courses even if they do not have smartphones. However, if the students have their own smartphones, we will be able to put their own applications into their phones.
As a parent or guardian, what if I am unable to attend the presentation on last day?
Attendance for the presentation is not compulsory for parents and guardians.
